PREPARING THE FINAL VERSION OF THE THESIS

After the defense, the student has the period defined in the minutes to make the corrections suggested by the committee and prepare the final version of the thesis.

According to Normative Resolution No. 46/2019/CPG, theses must be in A4 format and saved in PDF/A format, following the guidelines in the Formatting Manual for Academic Works and on the website https://portal.bu.ufsc.br/normalizacao/.

Cataloging Sheet

Before submitting the thesis to the University Library, the cataloging sheet must be generated at http://ficha.bu.ufsc.br/. The system automatically generates the sheet based on the information provided by the author. Be sure to check and follow the filling instructions available on the website. Signatures

The Master’s Thesis must be digitally signed only by the advisor and the Program Coordination. The co-advisor does NOT sign the thesis. The year on the thesis must be the year of submission to the Library, not the defense year.

Final work written in a foreign language

When the thesis is written in a foreign language, it must be accompanied by an extended abstract and keywords in Portuguese. The abstract must include the introduction, objectives, methodology, and results, providing the reader with an overall understanding of the work.

Submission of the final version to the University Library

To release the deposit of the thesis in the University Library (the student is responsible for the submission), first send the following by email to the Graduate Office (ppgecm@contato.ufsc.br):

  • Link from AssinaUFSC for the Coordinator’s signature on the final thesis file (note the format: PDF/A), already digitally signed by the advisor;
  • A .doc or .txt file containing the thesis title, abstract, keywords (separated by ; or enter), abstract (in English) and keywords (separated by ; or enter), as well as the Area of Concentration, Research Line, and Research Project (consult your advisor) to which the thesis is linked.

To obtain the Coordinator’s signature, send an email to the Graduate Office (ppgecm@contato.ufsc.br).

After that, the student may proceed with the submission of the thesis to the BU/UFSC. Check here the procedures for thesis submission.
