Overview

Welcome to Pós-ECM!

The Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering and Sciences (Pós-ECM) was established in recognition of the innovative character of Joinville and its surrounding region, with the aim of providing high-quality training for professionals capable of conducting scientific and technological research.

It offers three areas of concentration:

  • Engineering Systems Development – Technological and sustainable development of products and processes related to the field of Mechanical Engineering and Science.
  • Transport Phenomena – Application of knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer and combustion, aiming to solve fundamental and applied problems in both the academic and industrial sectors, related to the field of Mechanical Engineering and Science.
  • Materials – Laboratory and field activities related to Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, including materials characterization, development, fabrication, measurement techniques and testing.

Since its creation, the Joinville Campus of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) has been playing an important role in the development of research and the training of engineers in the southern region of Brazil. It offers today eight undergraduate programs in Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Civil Infrastructure Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Railway and Metro Engineering, Science and Technology, and Transportation and Logistics Engineering.

With a strong multidisciplinary character, the Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering and Sciences (Pos-ECM) at the Joinville Campus aims to meet the industrial needs for professionals capable of conducting research and developing new technologies, offering academic preparation in three areas of concentration: (i) Transport Phenomena; (ii) Materials; and (iii) Engineering Systems Development.

It is important to emphasize that the Master’s Program in Mechanical Engineering and Sciences complements existing lines of research in the State of Santa Catarina and helps reduce regional disparities in the conduct of research. Its strategic location in the Joinville region makes the program particularly attractive for several reasons. First, it allows direct engagement with the challenges of the region’s industrial hub. Second, it draws graduates from local engineering programs as well as from nearby regions, including the states of Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul.
