Teaching internship
Instructions for requesting the course:
Enrollment must be requested from the Program’s Delegate Collegiate before the beginning of the semester in which the student intends to carry out the teaching internship. Pay attention to the meeting schedule of the Collegiate.
To request enrollment, the student must:
- Fill out the Teaching Internship Enrollment Request Form containing the detailed description of the activities to be carried out by the student;
- Collect the signatures of (1) the advisor, (2) the professor responsible for the undergraduate course in which the internship will take place, and (3) the department head (via emb.jve@contato.ufsc.br); and
- Send the completed request to the Graduate Office (ppgecm@contato.ufsc.br), noting that:
Art. 5° The Teaching Internship course must be taken by students according to the following workload:
I – Teaching Internship I (1 credit = 15 hours), with a work plan providing for the delivery of 3 to 5 theoretical, theoretical-practical, or practical class hours in an undergraduate course of at least 2 credits;
II – Teaching Internship II (2 credits = 30 hours), with a work plan providing for the delivery of 8 to 10 theoretical, theoretical-practical, or practical class hours in an undergraduate course of at least 3 credits;
III – Teaching Internship III (3 credits = 45 hours), with a work plan providing for the delivery of 12 to 15 theoretical, theoretical-practical, or practical class hours in an undergraduate course of at least 4 credits.
The student must wait for the opinion of the Pós-ECM Collegiate. Once approved, the Graduate Office will proceed with the inclusion of the course in the CAPG system.
Teaching Internship Report and Professor’s Evaluation:
At the end of the Teaching Internship, the student must prepare a Teaching Internship Report, which must be sent to the supervising professor.
The supervising professor will issue a brief evaluation to the Delegate Collegiate, assigning a grade to the student based on their performance.
It is the responsibility of the Graduate Program Collegiate to approve the report presented by the student and validate the final grade of the internship.

Normative Resolution No. 3/CPG/2021, dated 08/11/2021 – Establishes guidelines for the Teaching Internship in stricto sensu graduate programs at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC).
Regulation of the Social Demand Program
The rules for the Teaching Internship were established by the Regulation of the Social Demand Program (DS) – Annex to Ordinance No. 76, dated April 14, 2010, which outlines the Program’s objectives and criteria for granting scholarships:
Art. 18. The Teaching Internship is an integral part of the graduate student’s education, aiming to prepare for teaching and to improve undergraduate education, being mandatory for all scholarship holders of the Social Demand Program, according to the following criteria:
I – for programs offering both Master’s and Doctoral levels, the requirement applies only to the Doctorate;
II – for programs offering only the Master’s level, the requirement is transferred to the Master’s;
III – Institutions that do not offer undergraduate programs must partner with other higher education institutions to meet the teaching internship requirements;
IV – the teaching internship may be paid at the Institution’s discretion, but the use of funds provided by CAPES is prohibited;
V – the minimum duration of the teaching internship shall be one semester for the Master’s and two semesters for the Doctorate, while the maximum duration shall be two semesters for the Master’s and three semesters for the Doctorate;
VI – it is the responsibility of the CAPES/DS Scholarship Committee to record and evaluate the internship for graduate credit purposes, as well as to define the supervision and monitoring of the internship;
VII – higher education faculty members who can prove equivalent teaching activities are exempt from the internship requirement;
VIII – the teaching internship activities must be compatible with the research area of the graduate program undertaken by the student;
IX – when a specific agreement between education systems is established by competent authorities, and other conditions in this article are met, the teaching internship may be carried out in the public high school system;
X – the maximum weekly workload for the teaching internship shall be 4 hours.
Art. 19. Any omitted cases shall be resolved by CAPES.
